In 1965, Hans-Jürgen Müller took over the company, expanding it to 40 employees and exporting products to 36 countries. However, in 1972, under pressure from the German Democratic Republic, the company was expropriated, becoming a state-owned enterprise.

Rebranded in 1987, the business focused solely on manufacturing brushes for the state, but in 1990, with the reunification of Europe, Hans-Jürgen Müller regained control of the family business, trading as Hans-Jürgen Müller KG.

Through struggles and victories, MÜHLE celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1995, winning back customers and rehiring former employees. The company's offering expanded in 2006, introducing a full range of wet shaving goods and solidifying the MÜHLE brand's presence in the market.
